iAds Pay Per Click Advertising, by Ionisis

iAds is a new pay per click advertisement serving system developed by Ionisis. iAds allows publishers to opportunity to generate revenue from displaying ads on their websites, and allows advertisers the opportunity to place their ads on the Ionisis website network, and on publishers' websites.

iAds has two sub services, unlike most ad services. iAdv is short for Ionisis Advertiser, and iPub is short for Ionisis Ad Publisher. You can be both an advertiser and publisher. Also, unlike other ad systems, you can directly apply your funds that you earn as a publisher to your ads that you are displaying as an advertiser, and, if that isn't flexible enough, you can also apply them to other services from Ionisis, such as hosting. So the revenue generated from your ad slots can directly pay for your own ads and other services. How is that for "flexible"?

iAdv (iAds Advertisers) Ad Groups

You start by creating an Ad Group. You give the group a name, and, if applicable, a start and end time, or you can leave the time settings as is, to have your ads displayed all day. If you specify a start or end time, make sure that you have your timezone set in your account settings, so that the ad system knows what time zone that your specified times are relative to; otherwise it will assume they are based off UTC+0.

Once you create an iAds Group, you'll be taken back to the group listings page, where you can see all of your ad groups, and their general statistics. You can click on an ad group to see its click statistics and also specify what geographic targeting you wish to apply to the ad group. By default, the ads in the group will be displayed to users from all over the world. By specifying one or more countries, the ad will be displayed to those countries only. Removing the countries will display the ad to the entire world again. Once ads in a group start acquiring clicks, you will start seeing click statistics for the ad group, which show what countries the clicks came from, the operating system of the users who clicked, the distribution of the OS, and what web browser the visitor was using.

Creating text Ads

Next you will create the advertisements for the iAds group. When creating an ad, you will choose whether the ad contains or links to adult content. Then you designate a max bid, which is the most you are willing to pay for a click. Next you will create the ad's title, description, and keywords. The title is the headline that the user will click on. The description is the text that will appear below the title, and above the display URL. Finally you will enter the ad's display URL and target URL. The display URL is what the user will see with your ad, and the target URL is where the visitor will go when they click on the ad. The display URL and target URL must be from the same domain. Also note that at this time, the keywords setting has no affect. Ionisis does not yet match your specified keywords against the page's content. After you fill out the ad's details, you will choose which ad group the ad belongs to, and click submit.

Creating Image Ads

Image ads are done differently at this time, than they are on other ad services. With Ionisis, you do not create a separate ad for each image. Instead, you create a text ad first, which is "the ad", then you assign images to "the ad", in various dimensions. Ionisis allows most of the standard image formats, and some additional formats not found elsewhere. When a publisher's ad slot is about to display an image ad, the ad server will determine if an ad has an image associated with it that matches the current ad slot dimensions. If your ad has an image at that dimension, then it is eligible to be selected. The image's max bid must be at least as much as the sum total of all the text ads' minimum bids for a slot of the same dimensions as that image ad. For example, if your image fills an ad slot that could fit 4 text ads, then your image's max bid must be at least 4 times the minimum bid for a text ad. At this time, that would be 40 cents. The system will adjust the amount automatically if it is too low. If you do not agree with the amount that the system adjusts, then you can delete the ad.

iPub (iAds Publishers) and Ad Slots

iAds Publishers can create an ad slot by selecting the desired dimensions for the ad slot, selecting the colors for the ads in the slot, and giving the ad slot a name. Finally you select whether or not to allow adult oriented ads to be displayed in your ad slot. After clicking submit, you will be given a snippet of code to place in your web page, as you would with any other ad network.
